What makes you an ideal candidate for this position?
As a recently retired CPA who worked in private business as a Controller and a CFO, I have the skill set and the experience to develop and manage budgets. I also have the time to devote to the job. Furthermore, having served as the Treasurer for several non-profits, I have successfully worked with volunteers, engaged in fundraising, and provided regular, reliable and informative reports to the public. I am a relative newcomer to the DPNM, having been motivated to become more involved by the election in 2016 of the worst president in history. My fresh eyes will bring new energy, perspective and ideas.
What is the number one goal you would like to achieve for the Democratic Party of New Mexico in this position? And how do you envision yourself working to achieve this goal?
The goal of accounting is to provide meaningful data for making good management decisions. As a member of the Budget and Finance Committee, my primary goal will be to make sure the DPNM has the timely, accurate, reliable, and relevant data needed to grow and strengthen the Party going forward. I want every Democrat to have access to summary information about how much money the DPNM has, where it came from, where it is being spent, and what the short and long-term goals are that the budget will support. Under the leadership of the DPNM Treasurer, the Budget & Finance Committee will set the policies and expectations to make this happen.
