What makes you an ideal candidate for this position?
I am a native New Mexican, born and raised in Mora County. I come from a large family mostly residing and voting in northern NM. I am retired from State of NM-DOT. I am co-founder of San Miguel County Federation of Democratic Women and served as its president for two terms. This group is diverse and very active, representing fierce women of NM. As a result of my leadership, we now have more women in San Miguel County active in our democratic process. As president of that group, I attended state meetings and conventions with the last one being DPNM State Convention where I was a Delegate for Congresswoman Teresa Leger-Fernandez. Most recently, I was part of a team of five that assisted SMC Chair with a successful county convention. I have been a registered democrat all of my life and involved as an activist since President Obama’s second term. I also worked closely with then DPNM Chair, Deb Haaland and served as one of New Mexico’s Five Electoral College in 2017.
What is the number one goal you would like to achieve for the Democratic Party of New Mexico in this position?
I would like to build the relationship between counties within CD3, with an emphasis on rural counties; and the DPNM.
And how do you envision yourself working to achieve this goal?
I envision myself working closely with existing relationships and building upon new ones in CD3. I am outgoing and a people person and will always encourage teamwork. I know how campaigns work as I have worked hard and helped elect local, state and federal candidates, including our Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham
