What makes you an ideal candidate for this position?
As a scientist, STEM educator, and entrepreneur, I will bring to SPARC a unique perspective on issues facing the Democratic Party of New Mexico. I have worked to build a Democratic Party that stands for broad participation in politics. I have personally registered hundreds of voters. I have been elected as Ward Chair of an inactive ward and activated it. I have served as the DPBC Secretary, where I assisted in targeting the county’s 2020 election strategy. I will be an advocate for sound policy on climate change, pandemic response, achieving racial justice, and improving education. We have all seen the damage that trading wishful thinking for science has done to our response to the pandemic and to climate change. We must work together to increase voter participation by promoting a positive vision of what effective government can achieve. I ask for your vote in my election to SPARC.
What is the number one goal you would like to achieve for the Democratic Party of New Mexico in this position? And how do you envision yourself working to achieve this goal?
My primary goal for the DPNM as a member of SPARC will be to foster effective communication from SPARC to the Ward Chairs and members of the Resolutions Committee at the ward level. Members of the Democratic Party who are active at the ward and precinct level often do not understand how to translate their concerns on issues into resolutions that will influence the platform. I have worked with other wards in the DPBC to improve participation, and will communicate with Ward Chairs to facilitate their interactions with SPARC.
