NM GOP Risks Lives With Maskless Rallies Across the State

For the last three days, the New Mexico GOP has joined Women For Trump for a bus tour across New Mexico, which has already made stops in Hobbs, Roswell, Artesia, Carlsbad, Las Cruces, Albuquerque, and Rio Rancho. At each of these stops, Republicans have posted pictures of maskless crowds exceeding New Mexico’s restrictions on gatherings of more than ten people.

DPNM Chair Marg Elliston released the following statement regarding the Women for Trump Bus Tour:

“It is irresponsible and dangerous for the New Mexico GOP to hold these kinds of events without encouraging masks and social distancing. Thanks to the responsible actions of New Mexicans across our state, we’ve made great progress toward controlling the COVID-19 pandemic, just recently allowing children to begin returning to school. The New Mexico GOP is selfishly risking that progress by encouraging behavior that could lead to another deadly spike in COVID-19 cases.”
