The Democratic Party of New Mexico released the following statement reacting to recent US Supreme Court decisions:

“In just one term, Donald Trump appointed 3 of the conservative US Supreme Court justices who ruled today to strike down student loan forgiveness and that businesses can discriminate against LGBTQIA+ Americans, not to mention yesterday’s decision to cripple affirmative action and the Dobbs decision overturning Roe v. Wade last year. Elections have consequences – and equity, fundamental rights, & the pursuit of happiness are on the ballot.”

“As Republicans applaud more disastrous SCOTUS decisions, there is no doubt that they see the working & middle class, people from diverse backgrounds, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and women as second-class citizens and want this to be America’s future.”
