The Supreme Court ruled today that the Trump administration can not move forward with its cruel plan to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. This decision allows the 17,000 New Mexicans who are eligible Dreamers to breathe a sigh of relief, after years of broken promises from President Trump.
DPNM Chair Marg Elliston released the following statement regarding the Supreme Court decision on DACA:
“We were relieved to hear that the Trump administration will not be able to move forward with their plan to end DACA. Thousands of Dreamers who have lived, worked, and built a life in New Mexico since they were children have been forced to live in limbo for years, while the president made empty promises about a solution. President Trump failed to keep his promises, and this decision is a long overdue moment of relief for DACA recipients and their families.”
