Why is Mark Ronchetti Hiding From His Long-Coveted Trump Endorsement?
Former TV weatherman Mark Ronchetti has spent his career in politics tying himself to President Donald Trump, billing himself as a “proud conservative who supports Donald Trump.” Then, yesterday, when his role model finally endorsed his campaign for governor, Ronchetti suddenly lost the nerve.
Ronchetti issued a vague non-answer of a statement to the press through a spokesperson, a very different tone than the exuberant embrace of Trump we’ve seen from Ronchetti in the past.
“After spending his entire political career telling everyone how much he admires Trump and his MAGA policies, Mark Ronchetti must be brimming with pride at finally receiving the long-sought endorsement of his hero, Donald Trump,” said Democratic Party of New Mexico Communications Director Daniel Garcia. “It’s strange that Mr. Ronchetti isn’t proudly touting this endorsement today, given his years of praise for President Trump and MAGA Republican policies. Mark Ronchetti can hide all he wants, but New Mexicans know the truth: he would bring Donald Trump’s policies to New Mexico, gutting public schools, banning abortion and slashing health care access. We can’t afford Ronchetti-Trump policies here in New Mexico.”
