GOP Nominee Doesn’t Believe Climate Change Contributes to Forest Fires
As the two largest forest fires in our state’s history stretch across the North and the Southwest corner of our state, Mark Ronchetti, the GOP nominee for governor, has no answer for how he’d address the climate crisis and mitigate future wildfires. Mark WRONGchetti has falsely claimed “Climate change doesn’t cause fires, come on,” and has done nothing to walk back that statement. His wildfire ignorance and climate change denialism make Mark WRONGchetti WRONG for New Mexico.
The science and the facts are undeniable: climate change is causing an increase in forest fires across the United States. News outlets reported that human-caused climate change is directly responsible for New Mexico’s fire season starting earlier – and climate experts agree. Mark WRONGchetti is making a bid to be our state’s executive —but he can’t face the facts of issues he’d be tasked with solving. Mark WRONGchetti is incapable of being an effective leader on wildfires and that signals disaster for New Mexico.
