CD-3 Debate Emphasizes That There’s A Clear Choice For Congress

Teresa Leger Fernandez and Alexis Johnson today met for the second debate in the race for New Mexico’s third Congressional District. Throughout the debate, Leger Fernandez outlined how her long record fighting for causes such as rural broadband and expanded health care facilities would help her be a champion for Northern New Mexicans in Congress.

Johnson, on the other hand, repeatedly lied about her record, claiming to be an “environmental engineer” when in reality she has worked primarily for oil and gas companies. She also failed to explain why she moved back to New Mexico just weeks before filing to run for Congress.

“Today’s debate emphasized that Teresa Leger Fernandez is the best candidate to represent Northern New Mexico in Congress,” said DPNM Chair Marg Elliston. “Teresa’s passion for service and love for this district are unparalleled, and voters know that she will always put her constituents first. We’re so excited to have such a strong candidate for Congress and we can’t wait to vote her into office this November!”
