Chair Elliston on Governor Lujan Grisham Ending PARCC Tests

Today, Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham issued an executive order directing the New Mexico Public Education Department to end use of the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers standardized test, commonly known as PARCC. Marg Elliston, Chair of the Democratic Party of New Mexico, praised the action:

“Governor Lujan Grisham hasn’t even had time to unpack and she’s already making good on her promises,” said Elliston. “From now on, we will hold our schools accountable with assessments built with students in mind and with the wisdom of educators and parents. I look forward to a process where all stakeholders in education help build the next generation of student assessments.”
