Democratic Leaders, Former Candidates Rally Supporters to GOTV Ahead of June 1
The Democratic Party of New Mexico (DPNM) and Melanie for New Mexico hosted a kickoff event today to bring Democrats together ahead of the June 1, 2021 general election in New Mexico’s first congressional district. The event was a chance to thank and celebrate all the Democratic candidates for Congress, while looking forward to GOTV efforts in the coming months.
Over 200 viewers attended the virtual rally and heard from speakers including Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, Senator Martin Heinrich, Senator Ben Ray Luján, Representative Teresa Leger Fernandez, State Auditor Brian Colón, State Representative Georgene Louis, Francisco Fernández, Randi McGinn, Victor Reyes, and State Representative and Candidate for Congress Melanie Stansbury. Viewers also got a sneak peek at Representative Stansbury’s new ad, which is launching tomorrow.
“It was fantastic to see so many Democrats come together and show their passion for keeping this district blue,” said DPNM Chair Marg Elliston. “Representative Stansbury is an incredible candidate who is committed to lifting up the voices of all New Mexicans. We’re already seeing how she can build enthusiasm in our communities, and we look forward to using that excitement to turn out voters like never before.”
“We’re not just working to hold this seat; we’re working to empower our communities and make sure our voices are heard in Washington,” said Candidate for Congress Melanie Stansbury. “We’re going to need people all across this district to mobilize our communities and get out the vote. It’s time to come together and use that people-power to keep CD-1 blue!”
