DPNM Applauds Rep. Haaland For Placement on Influential DNC Platform Drafting Committee

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) yesterday announced that Representative Deb Haaland would be one of just 15 members of the 2020 DNC Platform Drafting Committee, which is responsible for managing the process through which the national Democratic party platform is created. The Democratic party platform is a guiding document that outlines the values and priorities of the party as a whole, and gives the American people a clear view of how Democrats will lead.

“We’re so proud to hear that Congresswoman Haaland will be on this important committee as a voice for New Mexicans and for Native communities,” said DPNM Chair Marg Elliston. “As one of the first Native American women elected to Congress and as a lifelong New Mexican, Congresswoman Haaland has a critical perspective to share during the platform drafting process. We know that as part of this team of Democratic leaders, she will fight for policies that support working families, protect the environment, and address the need for justice in policing. Her input will be critical in creating a platform that understands the needs of all Americans.”
