DPNM Chair Kicks Off 33 County Listening Tour With Grant County Democrats

Democratic Party of New Mexico (DPNM) Chair Marg Elliston today held the first of her meetings with Democrats around New Mexico, joining more than 68 Grant County Democrats for their virtual monthly meeting.

During the call, Chairwoman Elliston discussed DPNM’s efforts to continue to reach out to voters while social distancing, and the importance of staying active during the novel coronavirus pandemic. She gave a shout out to Democratic Party of Grant County leadership for their recent phone banking efforts, which have spread awareness about absentee balloting.

The virtual meeting also included speeches from local candidates, Lieutenant Governor Howie Morales and DPNM Treasurer Robert Lara.

“We’re grateful so many folks showed up tonight to help support democracy,” said Democratic Party of Grant County Chair Matthew Runnels. “We have so many dedicated volunteers in Grant County who are committed to doing everything possible to elect Democrats up-and-down the ballot. It was great to hear from state party leadership and know that we’re all working toward the same goal of keeping New Mexico blue in 2020.”

“I loved hearing from Democrats in Grant County tonight about all the wonderful work they’re doing to help us keep New Mexico blue,” said DPNM Chair Marg Elliston. “Democrats around New Mexico are adapting to campaigning during the COVID-19 pandemic, and I’m proud to see so many people continue to support our mission in this difficult time. We have a lot of great people in our corner, and I’m looking forward to a successful election year.”

This was the first meeting of DPNM Chair Marg Elliston’s 33 County Listening Tour, during which she will speak with and hear from Democrats across New Mexico about how we can continue to engage voters while preventing the spread of COVID-19.
