ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Hundreds of New Mexicans joined the Democratic Party of New Mexico (DPNM), elected officials, and community groups today to show their unity in the face of President Trump’s hateful and divisive rhetoric.The “New Mexico for All” event featured poetry readings, music, and speeches from community leaders. Attendees heard from U.S. Representative Ben Ray Luján, U.S. Representative Deb Haaland, New Mexico Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver, and Mayor Tim Keller.
Speakers at the event emphasized the importance of New Mexicans standing together in solidarity with communities who have been affected by President Trump’s failed policies and divisive rhetoric. The event highlighted President Trump’s attacks on health care, the failed GOP tax bill, and the administration’s cruel immigration policy.
“This visit is important for us,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “It is a chance for us to stand up for what we believe in as a city. It is a chance for us to stand up for what New Mexican values are all about.”
“This is what democracy looks like,” said New Mexico Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver. “When people who care about our communities come together and we say in one strong united voice that we will not stand for hate, that we stand with each other and the people of our communities”
“I am proud to be here with you as we gather tonight to let the country and the world know that in New Mexico we stand for truth, we stand for people of all races, colors and creeds, we stand for freedom of religion, freedom of the press and we stand together to fight for the freedom to speak out against racism and bigotry” said U.S. Representative Deb Haaland.
“I want to thank everyone for coming out today to send President Trump a strong message,” said U.S. Representative Ben Ray Luján. “His divisive and harmful policies have no place in New Mexico. ”

This administration has failed hardworking families and demonized many New Mexican communities. Our state is not interested in President Trump’s hateful agenda, and we were glad to see so many people making it clear that we believe in a New Mexico for All.
