SCC Voting Will be Held Virtually on March 30, 2021
The Democratic Party of New Mexico (DPNM) today sent out an official call to State Central Committee (SCC) members residing in New Mexico’s first Congressional District informing them that the vote to select a Democratic candidate to fill the recent vacancy will take place from 7:00am to 7:00pm on Tuesday, March 30, 2021.
This date was chosen in order to allow DPNM Chair Marg Elliston to certify the results of the vote no less than 56 days prior to the June 1, 2021 election date set by the New Mexico Secretary of State.
In accordance with DPNM rules, this vote will take place through absentee balloting, which allows SCC members to submit their ballots at any point within the allotted time and does not include a Zoom meeting. This process has already been used repeatedly for statewide races and is monitored closely by DPNM cybersecurity staff. All ballots are public, as is required by DPNM rules, and will be available to any member of the public who requests them for up to 90 days after the election.
For more information please see DPNM’s Online Election Hub, which includes materials for the public and members of the press.
