DPNM Statement on SCOTUS Ruling Regarding Trump’s Taxes

The Supreme Court of the United States today ruled that Manhattan prosecutors can see President Trump’s financial records, doing away with the president’s claims that he is totally immune from prosecution while in office.

DPNM Chair Marg Elliston today released the following statement regarding the ruling:

“Today’s Supreme Court ruling affirms that the president is not above the law, despite his many attempts to avoid accountability. It is essential that legal proceedings like those in New York are able to move forward unobstructed, so that the full scale of President Trump’s corruption can be brought to light. After breaking with decades of tradition and refusing to release his tax returns, Donald Trump has continued to fight against any measure that would hold him accountable. Meanwhile voters want to know what it is that he’s working so hard to hide?
