Democratic Party of New Mexico (DPNM) Vice Chair Manny Crespin was elected this week to serve a two year term as the Vice Chair of the Western Region for the Associated State Democratic Committees (ASDC). As Western Region Vice Chair, Vice Chair Crespin will serve on the ASDC Executive Committee and will liaison with and provide support to Democratic leaders in Alaska, American Samoa, Arizona, California, Colorado, Guam, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Northern Mariana Islands, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.
Crespin was elected as DPNM Vice Chair this April, after serving for two years as Vice Chair of the Democratic Party of Bernalillo County. He is a multi-generational New Mexican, born in Santa Fe and raised in Northern New Mexico. Crespin earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees from New Mexico State University. In his professional career, he has spent over a decade as a behavioral health professional, and is currently serving developmentally disabled New Mexicans as a Case Manager and health advocate for the Developmental Disability Waiver.
Crespin was elected by acclamation with no objections and will succeed Jesse Maldonado, Vice Chair of the Democratic Party of Idaho, in the position.
“I’m honored to have the opportunity to represent New Mexico on the federal level while working alongside leaders from 15 other states and territories,” said DPNM Vice Chair Manny Crespin. “Democrats have so much to learn from each other, and this role will allow me to be a central part of that process. I’m excited to create a dialogue about the specific issues facing western states and how we can address them at the local, state and national level.”
