GOP’s Out-Of-State Convention Shows Lack of NM Values

The NM GOP Plans to Travel to Amarillo for State Convention

The Republican Party of New Mexico revealed this week that they’ll be traveling to Texas to hold an in-person state convention with several hundred people. Texas has recently lifted nearly all COVID-19 restrictions, despite the ongoing global pandemic. In New Mexico, Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has continued to implement science-driven policies that are widely approved of by New Mexicans

“The New Mexico GOP’s plan to meet in Amarillo shows that their values are more aligned with Texas’ than New Mexico’s,” said DPNM Chair Marg Elliston. “Instead of finding smart ways to support local businesses and prevent the spread of COVID-19, Republicans are turning their backs on our state just so they can gather in-person. It’s clear where their priorities lay, and that’s not with New Mexico.”
