Campaign Legal Center Calls for Investigation Into Kimberly Skaggs for Funneling $100,000 Through Shell Company
News broke this week that Republican Party of New Mexico Executive Director Kimberly Skaggs is in potential legal trouble. The Campaign Legal Center recently filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission, calling for an investigation into $100,000 that Skaggs and her husband funneled through a shell company during the CD-1 special election in 2021.
This news follows hot on the heels of another campaign finance scandal for prominent Republicans. Just one month ago, Cowboys for Trump founder Couy Griffin was charged with violating the Campaign Reporting Act.
“The New Mexico GOP is trying to cheat the system with shady tactics and illegal funding, because they know that their weak candidates can’t win on the issues,” said DPNM Chair Jessica Velasquez. “While Democrats consistently deliver for hardworking New Mexicans, it’s clearer than ever that Republicans can’t be trusted to lead.”
