New Mexico Democrats Make History, Elect First Native American Congresswoman In United State History

Tonight Deb Haaland joined Sharice Davids of Kansas to become the first Native American women elected to Congress. Marg Elliston, Chair of the Democratic Party of New Mexico, released the following statement in response:

“Deb Haaland’s historic campaign made all New Mexicans proud. I’m proud that for the first time in history a Native American woman will be walking the halls of Congress. I look forward to watching Deb use her fierce leadership to fight for hardworking New Mexico families and a brighter future for our state.”
