GOP AG Candidate Commits Brazen Campaign Finance Violations, Unfit to be AG

Albuquerque, NM – This morning, the Democratic Party of New Mexico announced that the party filed a complaint with the New Mexico Office of the Secretary of State against GOP Attorney General candidate Michael Hendricks for unprecedented campaign finance violations including concealing the identities of donors for 70 percent of his total campaign contributions, hiding the identity of an elected official who contributed, stating the U.S. Air Force and U.S Government contributed to his campaign, and putting the non-profit status of an Albuquerque church in jeopardy after stating it contributed to his political campaign.

“New Mexico has never seen such brazen campaign finance violations by a candidate for office, but the most shocking thing is that Michael Hendricks thinks he’s fit to be the state’s top law enforcement official,” said Democratic Party of New Mexico Chair Marg Elliston. “Republican Michael Hendricks hid the identity of 70% percent of his campaign contributors, implied multiple times that the U.S. Air Force and federal government contributed to his campaign, and even threatened the non-profit status of a church for his own reckless political ambitions.”
