NM Dems on Abortion Decriminalization

Tonight, the New Mexico Senate voted down House Bill 51, which would have overturned New Mexico’s unconstitutional and unenforceable ban on abortion. Marg Elliston, Chair of the Democratic Party of New Mexico, released this response:

“Tonight, I am disappointed, but not discouraged. We missed an opportunity to affirm the fundamental right to bodily autonomy. I know what pre-Roe America looks like and there is no way we’re going back. This conversation must continue.”
