The Democratic Party of New Mexico (DPNM) tonight hosted a virtual “Fill Out Your Ballot” Rally, encouraging absentee voters who have already received their ballots to fill them out and put them in the mail.
Attendees heard from Representative Ben Ray Luján and Representative Deb Haaland about the importance of returning absentee ballots as quickly as possible. Both speakers reminded voters what’s at stake in this election and them to talk to friends and family about making a plan to vote.
Over 327,000 New Mexicans have already requested absentee ballots this year, and Democrats have out-requested Republicans by 286%.
“We’re less than a month away from election day,” said Representative Ben Ray Luján. “Early voting has already begun in New Mexico, and we’re reaching out to everyone across our state to encourage people to request that absentee ballot, fill it out, and mail it back. We need to continue to fight to protect access to the ballot box, and I’m so glad to see so many New Mexicans doing their part by making a plan to vote.”
“No candidate ever wins an election on their own, and I am so grateful for each and every one of you,” said Representative Deb Haaland. “The Trump campaign has been putting thousands of dollars behind Republican candidates, but they can’t compete with all of us standing together. We have to win this election by a landslide, and show Republicans that New Mexico is staying blue.”
“More voters than ever before are voting absentee this year, and we’re proud to see Democrats making sure that their voices are heard” said DPNM Chair Marg Elliston. “New Mexicans have been getting ready all year to elect leaders like Ben Ray Luján and Deb Haaland, who will truly represent our values in Congress. Now we’re ready to cast our votes and mail in our ballots so that we can create a New Mexico for All!”
