Two Years After January 6th Attack on Capitol, MAGA GOP Still Holds Nation Hostage to Extremism

New Mexico’s Congressional Delegation is Ready to Work While Republicans Refuse to Behave Like Adults

Albuquerque- Two years to the day after far-right extremists attacked the nation’s Capitol in an attempt to overthrow the government, MAGA Republicans are holding Congress hostage as the world watches their embarrassing inability to govern and persistent obstruction of every attempt to elect a new Speaker. Meanwhile, all three New Mexico Democratic US Representatives are ready to get to work to do the job they were elected to do.
“Our country is without a sitting Congress while Republicans make behind-the-scenes power plays to protect a handful of fragile egos,” said Democratic Party of New Mexico Spokesperson Daniel Garcia. “With their failure to accomplish their first order of business, Republicans wasted no time in showing they are entirely incapable of governing. Meanwhile, all three of New Mexico’s Congressional Democrats are ready to get to work on behalf of their districts and the country. Once again, MAGA Republicans make it abundantly clear that governing in the interests of the people takes a backseat to scoring points with the MAGA movement.”
Even after 13 rounds of voting, Republicans refuse to behave like adults at the expense of the country. Even on the two-year anniversary of the MAGA insurrection, Congressional Republicans continue to demonstrate that they are still beholden to the most radical factions within their ranks.
Meanwhile, all three NM Representatives are showing Republicans how to behave like adults and making history as we pave the way to a more diverse and representative government by electing Hakeem Jeffries as the first Black Congressional party leader in the history of the United States.
