DPNM Congratulates Stephanie DuBois on Her Appointment to Otero County Commission

DuBois Replaces Criminal Insurrectionist Couy Griffin

On October 19th, lifelong Democrat Stephanie Dubois was appointed to the Otero County Commission by Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham. As former Chairwoman of the Otero County Democratic Party and a perennial community activist, DuBois has spent decades helping New Mexicans.
DuBois fills the Otero County Commission seat of criminal former Commissioner and Cowboys for Trump founder Couy Griffin. Griffin was removed from his Otero County Commission seat by a New Mexico judge for his role in the January 6th, 2020, attack on the United States Capitol. Griffin is also barred from holding future elected office.
“The Democratic Party of New Mexico is so proud that Stephanie DuBois was selected to fill Couy Griffin’s former seat. After knowing Stephanie for years, DPNM knows that she will take this position and the public service it necessitates seriously, unlike her predecessor,” said Daniel Garcia, Communications Director of the Democratic Party of New Mexico. “Her work within the Democratic Party has been invaluable, and we know she’ll bring the same work ethic to diligently serving the people of Otero County.”
Earlier this year, the Republican County Commission, which included Griffin, refused to certify the county’s 2022 primary election results until ordered to by the New Mexico Supreme Court. DuBois is running to retain this seat on the three-person County Commission in the upcoming general election.
