Quick Facts:

  • New Mexico has a total of 45 delegates and 3 alternate delegates.

  • There are five different delegate types: District-Level Delegates [23 total], Pledged Party Leader and Elected Official (PLEO) Delegates [4 total], At-Large Delegates [7 total], Alternate Delegates [3 total] and Automatic delegates [11 total].

  • In addition, New Mexico will select 1 member to serve on each of the DNC's three standing committees: Credentials, Platform, and Rules.

  • In order to run for a National Delegate Position, you must be 18 years old on or before November 5, 2024, be a resident of New Mexico, a U.S. citizen, and be a registered voter in the district in which you are running.

Important Dates:

  • March 03rd: Statement of Candidacy forms for National Convention Delegate are made available on this website and at State Party Headquarters

  • March 22nd: Declaration of Candidacy forms for DNC committee positions are due at 5:00pm MST

  • May 17th: Statement of Candidacy forms are due by 5:00 p.m. MST for anyone wishing to run for a District-Level delegate

  • May 22nd: Statement of Candidacy forms are due by 5:00 p.m. MST for anyone wishing to run for a PLEO Delegate, At-Large Delegate, or Alternate Delegate

  • June 8th: County Party Conventions

  • June 15th: Congressional District Conventions (election of District-Level Delegates)

  • June 22nd: Statewide Post-Primary Convention (election of At-Large, Alternate, and PLEO Delegates)

  • August 19th-22nd: Democratic National Convention in Chicago!
